Serving Students and Promoting Progress: Professional Development that Works There is not enough time to analyze the needs, prescribe effective strategies and monitor the implementation in order to determine effectiveness and progress. Gathering data, collecting evidence and implementing research based strategies are ongoing components of a well-planned Professional Learning Community. Rick DuFour (2006) describes a Professional Learning Community (PLC) as a process in which the collaborative teams work interdependently to achieve common goals connected for the purpose of learning for all. This team will drive the mission, vision and goals of the organization. Learning for all is a team effort through PLC.
